Linked slightly with the last point is your
health. Bad health is a major reason for ensuring you are not
called back for a second interview or offered the job. If an
interviewer has any doubts about your health, that will be the
end of it I'm afraid. Unreliability for any reason is bad,
but for health reasons makes you a complete “no-no”. Look at it
from the hirers' position. Would you hire someone who was
constantly off sick? No, you wouldn't. So if your sickness
record is bad, address it now. As a manager, I have had to deal
with employees with a bad sickness record. I can assure you
there is nothing worse from the employers point of view, believe
me!
Of course, the flip side of this is that you
should radiate health and vitality when you attend an
interview. Therefore, if you do feel under the weather on the
day you are due to attend an interview, you are better off
cancelling. If you are not feeling your best, you will not look
your best, and you will certainly not perform to the best of
your ability.
